We partner with local communities in Guatemala to support community-based diabetes health education and support across the lifespan, youth leadership, and micro-economic initiatives.

Bienestar (which means well-being in Spanish) is a non-profit volunteer run community health organization affiliated with Nelson United Church in the West Kootenays in British Columbia, Canada.  We support locally identified public health initiatives throughout the lifespan, youth education and leadership, and income generation with long-standing practice partners who are living on the margins of society in Guatemala.

Our partners include the Cooperative of Nuevo Horizonte, Association of Women in Solidarity (AMES), Cooperative of La Esmeralda, and land defenders of El Estor.
